Oggi, visitiamo una frazione particolare, sita in posizione di passaggio, fra “LATTE ” e il confine Francese,stiamo parlando del confine del “Ponte San Luigi “, per raggiungerlo bisogna salire verso i monti e non costeggiare il mare:

Mortola , o La Mortola nasce dietro un paio di curve dopo la frazione Latte, e salendo incontriamo subito alcune case, sulla nostra sinistra i famosi “giardini Botanici Hambury “che sono una grande attrazione per i turisti, una deviazione, ci porta più in alto dove troviamo La Mortola Superiore con tutta la sua storia.

Da questa zona , possiamo ammirare il mare, e scrutare la parte Francese,a far capolino nelle nostre foto, piante di diversa natura, in acqua notiamo imbarcazioni di diverso tipo che affiancano la nostra costa e ci danno una sensazione di ricchezza che ci appaga gli occhi.

Qui alla nostra destra vediamo l’entrata dei famosi Giardini Hanbury, dove all’interno una infinità di piante esotiche e di paesi lontani , si susseguono , percorrendo vialetti all’inglese, mentre una stupenda vista sul mare ci lascia a bocca aperta.

Siamo arrivati nella parte Superiore della frazione, subito in questa piazza troviamo il ” il Santuario Nostra Signora Dell’Aria Aperta ” votato al culto della Madonna Bambina .Santuario frequentato sia da fedeli Italiani ma anche Francesi.

Qui davanti alla Chiesa, troviamo questo magnifico Cipresso, con una targa che ci racconta la sua storia

Ora siamo entrati nella Chiesa, luogo di Culto e Pellegrinaggio,importante e di grande effetto , l’altare che si impone al visitatore con sovrana maestosità, lavorato e dipinto frontalmente .Alle pareti troviamo infiniti doni di persone devote e statue varie.

All’esterno della Chiesa troviamo una Cappella ,che ha una grande particolarità, è sempre aperta,giorno e notte, dove i fedeli senza impegno di orario possono entrare e recitare le loro preghiere.

La nostra gita è terminata, purtroppo ci lasciamo alle spalle una zona meravigliosa, invidiata da tutti i turisti, e frequentata da molti di loro; la strada ci riporta verso il mare , in certi punti scavata fra le rocce che creano una sensazione di mistero mentre notiamo il mare fra i rami dei pini e, scrutiamo all’orizzonte la costa Francese.

Arrivati nuovamente sulla statale, curiosi, andiamo a dare uno sguardo al confine Italo/ Francese, dove troviamo sulla nostra sinistra la caserma con guardie pronte ad intervenire,mentre dal lato opposto della strada immense montagne rocciose ci obbligano ad alzare il capo per vedere la loro maestosità.

Fermiamoci qui, e facendo inversione di marcia ritorniamo a Ventimiglia per nuove destinazioni.
